50 Shades of Grey - 20 Million Shades of Readers
I am sure you have ALL heard of this book - the new source of female hysteria everywhere. I have to admit that as much as I did not want to conform to the rest of the female world, I picked up the first book and finished it within 12 hours. (The shame!) Christian Grey completely took over my life for three days - finishing the trilogy last night, just in time for reality.
Every newspaper is talking about it, Facebook and Twitter are raving about it and there are already rumours of a movie (Please, Ryan Gosling, Please)!
But why are we all so crazy about it? Today’s Metro reveals women admitting that the books made them feel saucier and liberated. The perfect ‘mummy porn’, this book is apparently helping sex lives at home and may even be the cause of a ‘baby boom’.
The trilogy may be erotic and hard for some readers to register, but there really is a romantic storyline that reminds us of Twilight and how the vampire won the hearts of the nation. Christian Grey seems to be giving Edward Cullen a run for his money!
According to The Daily Mail, 79% of females found the idea of being dominated by a male exciting an an incredible 90% of males found the idea of having a “submissive” exciting. If you have no idea what I am talking about and would like to read it, go for it. Or don’t, it could completely take over your life. (Writing this blog post has left me itching to pick up my book)!
